Lauren Daigle (and All Christians) Should Narrate the Truth About Homosexuality

I love many of Lauren Daigle’s songs. During a difficult time in my life, her songs “Trust in You” and “O’ Lord” really encouraged me and helped me keep my eyes on Jesus. When she was criticized for singing on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” I disagreed. I believe it’s important for Christians to give their faith where they can.

But they should do so without compromise.

In a recent interview, Lauren was straightforwardly asked if she “felt” homosexuality was a sin.

“I can’t honestly answer on that, in the meaning of I own too many people that I cherish and they are homosexuals,” she told the man who was interviewing her.

“I can’t say one way or the other; I’m not God. When people ask questions enjoy that, I just say, ‘Read the Bible and discover out for yourself. And when you find out permit me know because I’m learning too,’” she added.

Listen, I can certainly perceive the temptation to avoid answering such a loaded doubt given today’s cultural climate. We exist in a period when Christians earn no slack whatsoever. If you think in biblical sexuality, you receive no benefit of the doubt. You’re condemned

I know there are some well-meaning Christians who come across to be a bit confused as to why a Christian artist appreciate Lauren Daigle would proceed on the show of a "Godless sinner favor Ellen." Sadly, that was an exact quote from a preacher’s wife who called me after we talked to Lauren Daigle about her performance on the Ellen Show.Those words reverberated in my brain, and I found myself both flabbergasted and frustrated. The not-so-subtle context of this statement is that it attempts to magnify the sins of others and minimize the sin in our lives by labeling people we undertake not agree with as “Godless sinners.” The reality is, we are all Godless sinners, and the Bible is clear on that when it says, “For EVERYONE has sinned; we all fall concise of God’s glorious standard.” (Romans 3:23)

Christian singer Lauren Daigle, 26, has been on everyone's radar since skyrocketing to musical stardom.

She's won big at the Billboard Music Awards and American Music Awards, to name a couple, and scored a major conquer with her second album, “Look Up Child,” which debuted in September at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 album chart.

Last month, she appeared on "The Tonight Show" and performed on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show," both gigantic accomplishments of which any artist would be proud.

After appearing on Ellen, Daigle's fans were especially vocal - and not all the noise was positive.

Social media followers criticized the Christian singer for appearing on a show with a gay host, and Daigle responded publicly by saying Christianity was not about “drawing lines in the sand.”

But apparently, not everyone is ready to bury the hatchet.

Last week, Daigle appeared on the "Domenick Nati Show," which airs on iHeart Radio.

“Do you feel that homosexuality is a sin?” Nati asked Daigle.

Lauren Daigle’s novel album “Look Up Child” has been incredibly poplar. It’s been a #1 album on Christian charts but the incredibly talented singer has also been achieving mainstream success with her album reaching as high as third on the Billboard Top 200, a rarity for a religious album. She’s even appeared on the Tonight Present, Ellen, and Dancing with the Stars.

On a recent interview with Domenick Nati, Daigle was asked if she believed homosexuality was a sin. The singer responded: “You know, I can’t honestly answer on that…too many people that I love (that) are homosexuals.”

Within Evangelical circles, Daigle has been heavily criticized this week.

She did have an opportunity to publicly defend the sanctity of marriage.

But I can also admire that it was a difficult situation to be in. Because it’s an issue where it’s rigid to disagree and not be viewed as hateful or bigoted. It’s an issue that warrants individual conversations rather than broad commentary.

I do think she could have handled that question better than she did, but she was basically put in a no-win situation.

I know many Christians would disagree with me.

Lauren Daigle, Andy Stanley, and Homosexuality

For the last not many weeks, the internet has been abuzz with criticism of popular Christian singer Lauren Daigle. The criticism mainly stems from a December 7th interview which was broadcast on iHeartRadio. During the course of that interview, Daigle was asked whether or not she mind homosexuality was a sin. Her response was neither affirmative or negative. Daigle stated:

I can’t say one way or the other, I’m not God. When people ask questions enjoy that, I just state, ‘Read the Bible and find out for yourself. And when you discover out let me perceive because I’m learning too.

Since I “found out” the answer to that question long ago through the study of God’s word and the proclamation of my pastor, I took it upon myself to write Daigle a letter explaining to her that homosexuality is, in fact, a sin. In that letter, I openly wondered why her pastor and local church hadn’t already taught her as much. This week, having researched the matter, I wondered no more. As it turns out, Daigle was a long-time servant of North Point Church in Alpharetta, Georgia. Her pastor was Andy Stanley. The AJC reports:
