Jonathan Bailey has revealed he was very aware of his sexuality after playing a straight traits in Netflix's smash hit Bridgerton.
The thespian, 36, who is openly gay, explained that the media attention that came with the well-known show put his sexuality into the spotlight.
Jonathan added that he felt very strange after his private life became part of the publicity for the show.
The Wicked celestial body contrasted his encounter on Bridgerton with working on Heartstopper, which he said he found cathartic, as he played a gay character.
The Crashing actor told Vanity Fair: 'Doing Bridgerton - it's funny what comes with doing a lot of push, and suddenly there's a lot that people want to know about you, and there's a lot that's asked of you that, obviously, in any other industry, you wouldn't have to talk about.

In 2022, a adolescent gay actor living in London got some very nice news. He learned that he had been cast in one of the most popular shows currently on television.
When James Phoon was told he would be joining the cast of “Bridgerton” for its third season, he could not have been more delighted.
“I treasure that show so much,” he enthused. “It’s so well-written and well-produced—it’s a joy to be a part of.”
Phoon plays Harry Dankworth, a sweet Regency-era English gentleman who marries into the titular Bridgerton family. The popular Netflix costume drama recently wrapped up its third season, and Phoon is using his off-time to go back to the theater in a new act called “Underdog: the Other Other Brontë,” which had a successful run in London and has just moved north for a limited run in Newcastle.
Since joining the “Bridgerton” cast, Phoon has been understandably subjected to a significantly elevated level of attention, no mistrust partly because he’s openly gay. When asked how he feels about increased press attention, often called “the next hot thing,” Phoon laughs, and then emphasizes that the spotlight provides a way to promote LGBTQ+ issues block to his heart.

The Jurassic World: Rebirth star seemingly revealed his single status when Chicken Shop Date host Amelia Dimoldenberg asked if he was free to pursue romantically.
“I’m available,” Jonathan said on the July 4 episode of the web series. “It’s just, I think there’s a genetic predisposition.”
And while he’s captured hearts onscreen, the 37-year-old—who publicly came out as gay in 2018—went on to note that he doesn’t think his work on Bridgerton has helped him with intimacy at all.
“It’s a fantasy, isn’t it?” he explained about the Netflix series. “Romance is grounded and real.”
Though Jonathan didn’t unveil any specific details on his dating life, he also alluded to existence single last year when sharing his mindset on parenting with a potential partner.
“I want to produce sure I’m going to be present,” he told British Vogue in December. “I’m reading books on adoption. I might co-parent with a woman, but I’m thinking it will be with a man.”
