Anti-gay Tennessee Republican resigns amid Grindr sex allegations
A Tennessee Republican who repeatedly voted against LGBTQ rights has resigned after being accused of seeking sex with young men on Grindr.
State Rep. Bill Sanderson (R-Kenton) resigned Wednesday, July 24, citing an ill son and business demands.
But political reporter Cari Wade Gervin alleges that the genuine reason is because Sanderson was using Grindr to hookup with other men.
Writing on his website The Dog and Pony Show, Gervin points to gossip site The Dirty, which published messages in 2014 allegedly between Sanderson and a Vanderbilt student, in which Sanderson allegedly says he is a “state rep” and includes his actual district, Obion, Lake and Dyer counties.
Gervin notes that Grindr messages can be faked, but says that he has evidence of Sanderson using his real phone number to text other men in subsequent years.
“The Grindr and text messages I acquire seen do appear to be authentic,” Gervin writes. “They use Sanderson’s concrete cell phone number. Sources confirm having been told about the messages at the time by their friends who received them. And one man I interviewed said

Sanderson's voting record identifies him as a hard-line Republican who voted staunchly against LGBTQ interests. He has voted against bills that would have given access to bathrooms to trans students, strongly opposed the Supreme Court marriage ruling, supported two separate bills that allowed therapists and adoption agencies to discriminate against gay people, and voted against allowing municipalities in Tennessee to enact LGBT nondiscrimination ordinances.

Tennessee state lawmaker Rep. Bill Sanderson (R) announced Tuesday he would be stepping down from his legislative seat. His resignation became effective at noon on Wednesday.
Sanderson told The Tennessean that his White Squirrel Winery in the western part of the articulate needs more of his attention as it’s grow a full-time job. And, due to his legislative responsibilities, he’s “lost the fruit of 135 peach trees.”
He also shares that his son-in-law is undergoing a cancer journey, putting pressures on his family.
This is about where I should note that the LGBTQ community in Tennessee probably won’t miss the Republican lawmaker.
As the Friendly Atheist reports, Sanderson has voted against LGBTQ interests many times during his time in office.
Since entity elected to office in 2010, he has voted in support of a bill that would prohibit communities from adopting anti-LGBTQ discrimination ordinances; voted for legislation that would enable adoption agencies to decline same-sex couples; and voted to supporting a resolution condemning the 2015 U.S. Supreme Court Obergefell decree that made marriage equality the law of the land.

Tennessee express Rep. Bill Sanderson was “openly soliciting sex” and sending “sexually explicit messages and pictures to men almost 40 years his junior,” according to a state political blog.
“The Dog and Pony Show,” a local political site by Cari Wade Gervin, claimed to possess caught the Republican on the same-sex attracted dating and affair app Grindr, LGBTQ Nation found.
The site noted that Grindr accounts are very easily faked, but Gervin investigated the account and compared the phone number to Sanderson’s; they match.
“The Grindr and text messages I have seen undertake appear to be authentic,” wrote Gervin. “They use Sanderson’s real cell device number. Sources affirm having been told about the messages at the second by their friends who received them. And one gentleman I interviewed said he met Sanderson at his farm in Kenton.”
Sanderson listed a fake label, “Brian,” and describes himself as entity “in an reveal relationship.” He’s sent photos of his nude torso and genitals, asking men to call him. The phone number he gave went to his winery, the White Squirrel Winery.
“I’ve seen a lot and done a lot, but I rea
