The BeYou team are here to help you. We provide a safe, welcoming and inclusive room where LGBTQ+ juvenile people can join, socialise and uncover the support they need.

Everyone is welcome whether you're queer woman , gay, bisexual, transgender, queer or questioning your sexual or gender identity, or you know someone who may require support or advice.

Please note: our meet-ups are term-time only.

We operate weekly meet-ups where everyone is listened to and valued equally. You can chat, make unused friends and split experiences, or just hang out in a safe space.

Our meet-ups are scamper by BeYou staff and volunteers who are trained to work with adolescent people.

As of Monday 28th July our groups are finished until week kicking off 1st September.  Summer activities will be taking place so do contact us for further details

There are many social groups across Norfolk and Waveney for LGBTQ+ individuals.

Norfolk Diverse Women’s Social Group

A friendly and welcoming women’s social group, for anyone who identifies as a woman, lives as a woman and loves other women! We are a non binary and transgender inclusive group that respects diversity and each other. We have a range of social events and online meet ups for our members and cheer building friendships and having fun!

Norfolk LGBT+ Meetup

This team is for those who are members of the LGBTQ+ community who exist or work in Norfolk. Founded by Angela and Jenny and fostered by a number of others, the group is a mixed group of adults over the age of eighteen. The group also welcomes those who are friends of the LGBT community!

Norfolk & Waveney Homosexual and Bisexual Men Meetup

This group is for homosexual and bisexual men who live or work in Norfolk and Waveney aged 18+. It is a social group incorporating various outdoor and indoor activities including walking, cycle, tours, dinners, game nights and much more.

As LGBTQ+ people, our relationships and identities often don’t fit in the matching mould as the ones we’re surrounded by, and seemingly “easy” questions can be deep and complicated. At the same time, sometimes you just necessitate an impartial ear to ask: If neither of us are doing gender roles, why is nobody doing the dishes either?

I’d like to meet more Queer people, but I don’t live somewhere where there’s much of a scene, even when it is okay to go out. How do I form LGBTQ+ friends online and/or date them?

Supporting LGBTQ+ young people online

Nearly all LGBT young people (96%) say the internet has helped them grasp more about their sexual orientation and/or gender self. Nine in ten LGBT young people said they can be themselves online. But being LGBT online can also present some specific risks.  Two in five (39 %) LGBT young people aged 13-19 have met up with someone they met and talked to online (All statistics are from Stonewall's School Report).

Your child may have told you they’re lesbian, gay, bi, gender non-conforming, or queer. Or maybe they haven’t ‘come out’ yet but you realize and want to back them. Talking with your child about sex, relationships and the internet can feel daunting, but is the best thing you can do to aid support them online – much like you accomplish offline.

To help your toddler make the most of what the internet can offer LGBTQ+ young people, it’s important to include ongoing and non-judgemental conversations with them. This will help them feel easy speaking to you if anything online worries them. 

Here are some things to think about:
