Tracking the BBC Dad Meme’s Transformation into Artistic Satire
Earlier this month, two cheeky kids barged in on their dad, professor Robert E. Kelly, during a live Skype interview with BBC. Minutes later, the footage was spreading quick and hard across the internet and a fresh meme—one that coaxed laughter even from the mouths of curmudgeons—was born. Just hours after the segment aired, it had already been viewed on Facebook more than 30 million times.
But smiles weren’t the only aftereffects the blooper inspired. Artist-designed spoofs emerged, too. Two of the most impactful reveal how, through the imaginative meaning of a lighthearted meme, artists can deliver political satire (like a witty jab at President Donald Trump) and experimental art to more eyeballs than was once thought possible.
The two spoofs in scrutinize hit the internet several days after the imaginative “BBC Dad” footage, as it’s been nicknamed, went viral. The first aired on Comedy Central’s notorious talk show The Daily Show with Trevor Noah. Funnyman host Noah place the stage by treating his audience to a giggling blow-by-blow of the original viral video: Kelly’s serious analysis of North Korean po

Reviewing every episode of American Dad!
Season 2 Overview
A show’s second season is usually when it firmly establishes its style. The testing period is over and now you’ve hit the ground running, building on your framework, exploring your characters in more detail, and maybe even fleshing out your extended cast. I hate the declare it, but American Dad has struggled with that, because in terms of quality it’s more or less the same as their first season. Passable animated entertainment which is just about good enough to warrant a renewal for season 3. It’s actually more inconsistent than season 1, as while season 1 was consistently mediocre, season 2 has higher highs but lowers lows.
American Dad is not one of my favourite shows because of these early years. I first caught up to the show and continued watching regularly as it aired in between seasons 2 and 3, and I never eagerly anticipated modern episodes as I would a couple of years later (and still undertake , sort of). The Family Guy vibes have been shaken off, but the show is still stuck in a transitional phase, one they probably didn’t foresee, as it’s evident they resent the truth that they’re expected to be a political present. ‘Bush C
